Since the 14th century, hardly anything has been changed about the church. The detached church tower dates from the early 16th century and has an open passageway. The church once had five entrances, two of which are decorated with 'Moorish' arches. According to experts, these decorations show connection with the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the patron saint James is buried. Shortly after the January 2018 quake, people were startled to find that the tower had a metre-long crack, which had gone right through the entire wall, one metre thick. There is no danger of collapse, nor is there a start for strengthening and repairing the tower.
